Who am I?

Each one of us is a special creation of God. You aren't an accident of biology or a more sophisticated form of animal.

Genesis 1:27 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness . . . So, God created man in His own image; in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

Being created in God's image doesn't mean that we look like God. It does mean that we reflect His character in our intelligence, our emotions, our creativity, our sense of right and wrong, and our appreciation of beauty.

Every human being who has ever lived was made in the image of God, giving each one of us unique dignity and importance.

Unfortunately, that isn't all that Scriptures tell us. They also tell us that we have all turned away from God.

Psalm 14:2-3 "The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

While each of us is created in the image of God and has intrinsic worth, we have chosen to sin. And because we have chosen to sin, we are condemned.

Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death . . . "

Why am I here?

The Bible answers with hope.

Acts 17:24-26 "God, who made the world and all things therein . . . hath determined the times before appointed and the bounds of their habitation."

So, God determined when and where each one of us would live. Verse 27 tells us why . . .

"That they should seek after the Lord, if haply they might . . . find Him"

We are here to know God. Jesus, in John 17:3, prayed "that they might know Thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

Unfortunately, our sinfulness keeps us from having the relationship with God that He desires.

Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities [sins] have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you that he will not hear."

Where am I going?

For this question, we must face the bad news first.

Psalm 9:17 "The wicked shall be turned into hell"

Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

If nothing changes, each of us will spend eternity separated from God in a fiery hell.

But, there is HOPE! Jesus Christ paid for our sins when He died on the cross.

I Peter 3:18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God"

We must simply trust that Jesus died for our sins, and that God will forgive those who trust in Jesus for forgiveness of sins.

Romans 10:9-11 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."

Will you trust Jesus as your Saviour today?

If you do, you will be able to answer these questions in a positive way:

Who am I?

A sinner who became a child of God!

Why am I here?

To know the good God Who made me, and to anticipate spending forever with Him.

Where am I going?

To heaven, where there is no pain, sickness, sorrow, or death
